How To Deal With Hard Water & Your Hair!

Published: 01 February 2010 8:57 AM UTCTags: Damaged Hair, hair, hairstyles, hard water, hard water and your hair, water

When it comes to hard water, there is not a lot that you can actually do in order to prevent your hair from getting completely damaged.  After all, you do need to take a shower right?  So what we are going to go over are some tips and tricks that will help you make sure that your hair is not as damaged when you live in a state that has specifically hard water.

One of the first things that you need to do is use a water purifier.  This is a fantastic idea as it will get at least some of the chemicals in the water out and will help the water not completely ruin your hair.  Calm down though – if you can not find a water purifier for your shower, hard water is not going to ruin your hair … it is just harder on your hair.

Next, make sure that you are checking the labels on your shampoo and conditioner, you want to find hair products that will soften up the cuticle and strength your hair completely – that way, it will not strip your hair of the natural oils that it has.  That is what hard water does – strips your hair of the oil.  If you have hard water, don’t be super alarmed, your hair can still look beautiful!

Weather-Proof Your Hair!

Published: 19 January 2010 8:44 PM UTCTags: hair, hairstyles, weather hair, weather proof hair

It is that time of year that many, many people worry about their hair.  I know that I never know what to expect when it comes to the weather but I can tell you for sure that there are many ways that you can weather-proof your hair just right to ensure that you have the best hairstyle in any weather!

One thing that you should get in the habit of is checking the weather report.  That way, you can know whether you are going to wear your hair up or down.  If it is going to rain, you might want to plan on wearing your hair all the way up or halfway down.

Next, pulling your hair into an updo or a half upsweep is definitely the best way for any rainy conditions as that way the hair will stay in place.  More weather tips and tricks for your hair in the next blog!

Get Penelope Cruz’s Retro-Inspired Waves!

Published: 18 January 2010 8:03 PM UTCTags: hair, hairstyles, Penelope Cruz, Retro-Inspired Waves, Waves, wavy hair

I have to say that with the new year upon us now, we are going to move onto looks that are not only winter-friendly, but also vintage.  I have to say that this season – it is all about the vintage looks.  Take Penelope Cruz for example, this chicky really – really knows how to rock the wavy look and I can promise that this is one look that you can get.

You want to make sure that you start with Oribe Gel Serum and run it on through your hair – and then use some hot rollers or even a curling iron to set the hair up in curls.  Next, spray on some Oribe Impermeable or some anti-humidity spray, that way you can ensure that you hair is not frizzy.

Finally, brush all of those loose curls into place and accentuate the wave in the front to make sure that it is pronounced.  To finish, use some hairspray, a bobby pin or two and you are all set!

2010 Winter Hairstyles: Extend Your Salon Style! 2

Published: 06 November 2009 12:00 AM UTCTags: 2010 hairstyles, 2010 salon hairstyles, 2010 winter hairstyles, extending your salon style, hair, salon hairstyles

updo

Now that we have talked about going boar, lightening up and finally wrapping your hair on up – let’s go ahead and touch base on the overnight updo.  To be honest, waking up with your style still intact is really hard to do – especially if you toss and turn a lot.

A good tip is pulling your locks back gently into a loose bun or ponytail – just be sure that you do not deflate the top of your crown and slip on satin pillowcases if available.

Next, make sure that you lift your roots on up by spraying some dry shampoo like Klorane Extra Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Extract at the root each morning – and a light-hold hairspray is also a good idea.

Finally – make sure that you are using if you are doing the style at home, high-quality stuff.  Hair products that are professional are always the best.

Extend Your Salon Style

Products – hair products can be the devil for you when you are trying to save a style for a couple days.  Lighten yourself up on the hair products and as the build up can truly cause your tresses to fall flat as a record rate.

Next, wrap your hair up!  If you are in a humid climate and want to make sure to protect your hairstyle, stick on a shower cap or a hair wrap whenever possible.

Finally, a boar-bristle brush may be an investment that is worth it.  The densely packed and natural fibers of the brush are gentle on hair.  More tips in the next blog guys!

2010 Winter Hair Products: Philip B. Russian Amber Shampoo

Published: 02 November 2009 9:30 AM UTCTags: 2010 winter hair products, 2010 winter hair trends, Hair Products, Philip B. Russian Amber Shampoo, shampoo

Philip B. Russian Amber Shampoo

It’s been a while hasn’t it?  Oh, the joys of moving right?  New job, new city, new life it seems like but back to the basics for this blog and back to the hair!  Wintertime is definitely tough on your hair.  I am not going to lie and tell you that hair is adaptable and that it is certainly going to forgive everything that you do to it.

However – there are ways to fix all of the damage that you put your hair through and Philip B. Russian Amber Shampoo is one of them.

Yes, this product is VERY expensive – yes, it is going to feel really gooey and super strange whenever you put it on, but I have to say, your hair will thank you.  Inside, this strange little jar is a miracle just waiting to happen.

Philip B. Russian Amber Shampoo is actually botanically based and the formula actually works to fortify and restore your hairs cell membranes, making color of chemically treated strands come to life!

The natural scent of amber and the warm and powdery with a subtle touch of musk just make this shampoo the best!

Scarlett Johannson at the Moet & Chandon: Get Her Hair!

Published: 26 October 2009 12:00 AM UTCTags: Bob, Bobline, hair news, hair stylist, hairstyles, Scarlett Johannson, Scarlett Johannson's hair

Scarlett Johannson at the Moet & Chandon

When you think about hairstyles, what is the first thing that you think about?  Well for me, it is all about the hairstylist.  I think that the celebrities truly do have it good for they are the ones that are truly getting some of the best hairstylists out their and Scarlett Johannson is one of those celebrities that has had the best work on her hair.

When this little chicky showed up at the Moet & Chandon in October, she certainly knew what she was doing and how she looked because celebrity hairstylist David Babaii actually traveled across the ocean so he could do her hair.

He actually created something like a short and swept to the side bob, which to me is actually beautiful – in every way possible.  If you want to capture this look?  Do some research and I can promise you will find the way!

2010 Hairstyles: Learn How To Travel-Proof Your Hairstyle!

Published: 21 September 2009 10:21 AM UTCTags: 2010 hairstyles, hair, hairstyles, sleek, slick hair, travel, traveling hairstyles

Traveling Hairstyles

It seems like traveling lately is something that is very popular.  Recently, I had job interview that I had to fly to – it was terrible!  By the time I switched planes and was off it in Boston, my hair was a mess!  That is what caused me to think about some tips and tricks that you will need whenever you are looking to travel yet keep your tresses in tack.

The first tip is that you need to pick a simplistic hairstyle.  Straight hair, a low-slung ponytail or even just some tousled waves are all fantastic hairstyles for the plane.  Just remember, if you are going to be on the plane for a really long time – you don’t want to have some big updo hair that is going to end up falling down.

In the long run – straight hair always seems to work for me and it is something that is easy to pull off.  Try it and you’ll see that your hair will look fantastic!
