Flaunt a Greek Goddess look in braids

Published: 19 March 2010 6:53 AM UTCTags: 2010 hairstyles, Braids, dry hair, hair, hairstyles, Jill Stuart, Shantel Vansanten, straight hair

Come Spring and braids can’t be far behind. You might say I know, but this time round the braid has been reborn in a new avatar. It is not the usual English or French braid that hung down your back but the braid that is on the side of your head with lots of wisps of hair around making it look elegantly disheveled. This kind of braid has been seen on the red carpet and the runway quite a bit already and it is certainly going to make a big comeback. The braid is good for all kinds of hair and you needn’t worry if your hair are thick, thin or any kind for that matter.

They can go on to add the right tussled look and are easy to maintain. Once you have fixed your hair in braids you needn’t worry about them throughout the day. Whew! What a relief to girls who are on the move the whole day long. This trend had been really catching on big time and several celebrities have been caught flaunting it. Actress Teresa Palmer, looks ready to welcome Spring with this side braid and the lovely yellow and white dress.

The best thing about braids is that you need not worry about them getting messy or your hair looking messy.  The kind of extra-messy braid that actress Shantel Vansanten wore to the Jill Stuart show could be a braid that you can put on the night before too and be ready to leave with in the morning.

Side-braids have just been discovered and they are all over the place. These side braids are certainly going to set big hairstyle fashion trends this season. So, get set to look like a Greek Goddess in them and find your very own Adonis.

Bangs to help get a bang-on hairstyle

Published: 17 March 2010 3:49 PM UTCTags: 2010 hairstyles, bangs, hair, haircuts, hairstyles

Bored of the same old look that looks out at you each time you look at yourself in the mirror. Then, how about getting you a new hairstyle that is hype and happening. If you want this then bangs or fringe is the style to spot.

You might have always had long hair and might not have the courage to chop off your locks. Then the best way ahead is to experiment with bangs and leave the hair behind long enough. It does require taking a little bit of risk and lot of spunk and sassiness, but the risk can be made into a calculated one.

You can do so by being well prepared before you opt for the specific length of bangs. Your stylist will be the right person to guide you in this regard taking into consideration the shape of your face, the hair texture and the lifestyle that you lead.

Bangs are the most simple of hairstyles available and yet it can bring about an instantaneous dramatic change in your looks like none other hairstyle can.

The way to go about it is to have your bangs or fringe trimmed far shorter than the actual length and within two weeks you will have them set and the right length. After that, you will need to trim them regularly to keep the hairstyle intact.

Therefore, if you are looking for the easiest way to change your hairstyle, make it more feminine and also get hair to frame your face then bangs or a fringe is the right thing to start off with. Down the years these have been the best options for women and have never ever gone wrong. Whatever your hair color, texture or length, adopting this style will never let you down.

How To Deal With Hard Water & Your Hair!

Published: 01 February 2010 8:57 AM UTCTags: Damaged Hair, hair, hairstyles, hard water, hard water and your hair, water

When it comes to hard water, there is not a lot that you can actually do in order to prevent your hair from getting completely damaged.  After all, you do need to take a shower right?  So what we are going to go over are some tips and tricks that will help you make sure that your hair is not as damaged when you live in a state that has specifically hard water.

One of the first things that you need to do is use a water purifier.  This is a fantastic idea as it will get at least some of the chemicals in the water out and will help the water not completely ruin your hair.  Calm down though – if you can not find a water purifier for your shower, hard water is not going to ruin your hair … it is just harder on your hair.

Next, make sure that you are checking the labels on your shampoo and conditioner, you want to find hair products that will soften up the cuticle and strength your hair completely – that way, it will not strip your hair of the natural oils that it has.  That is what hard water does – strips your hair of the oil.  If you have hard water, don’t be super alarmed, your hair can still look beautiful!

One thing that you should get in the habit of is checking the weather report.  That way, you can know whether you are going to wear your hair up or down.  If it is going to rain, you might want to plan on wearing your hair all the way up or halfway down.

Next, pulling your hair into an updo or a half upsweep is definitely the best way for any rainy conditions as that way the hair will stay in place.  More weather tips and tricks for your hair in the next blog!

Get Penelope Cruz’s Retro-Inspired Waves!

Published: 18 January 2010 8:03 PM UTCTags: hair, hairstyles, Penelope Cruz, Retro-Inspired Waves, Waves, wavy hair

I have to say that with the new year upon us now, we are going to move onto looks that are not only winter-friendly, but also vintage.  I have to say that this season – it is all about the vintage looks.  Take Penelope Cruz for example, this chicky really – really knows how to rock the wavy look and I can promise that this is one look that you can get.

You want to make sure that you start with Oribe Gel Serum and run it on through your hair – and then use some hot rollers or even a curling iron to set the hair up in curls.  Next, spray on some Oribe Impermeable or some anti-humidity spray, that way you can ensure that you hair is not frizzy.

Finally, brush all of those loose curls into place and accentuate the wave in the front to make sure that it is pronounced.  To finish, use some hairspray, a bobby pin or two and you are all set!

2010 Winter Hairstyles: Extend Your Salon Style! 2

Published: 06 November 2009 12:00 AM UTCTags: 2010 hairstyles, 2010 salon hairstyles, 2010 winter hairstyles, extending your salon style, hair, salon hairstyles

updo

Now that we have talked about going boar, lightening up and finally wrapping your hair on up – let’s go ahead and touch base on the overnight updo.  To be honest, waking up with your style still intact is really hard to do – especially if you toss and turn a lot.

A good tip is pulling your locks back gently into a loose bun or ponytail – just be sure that you do not deflate the top of your crown and slip on satin pillowcases if available.

Next, make sure that you lift your roots on up by spraying some dry shampoo like Klorane Extra Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Extract at the root each morning – and a light-hold hairspray is also a good idea.

Finally – make sure that you are using if you are doing the style at home, high-quality stuff.  Hair products that are professional are always the best.
