We have now moved onto part two in our three part wintertime hair blog!  In this part we will explore some conditioning treatments in detail so you know exactly what you should be looking for in a conditioner/conditioning treatment.  Now that you know the basics on what wintertime does to your hair and that you need to keep it moisturized, you may be pacing up and down the hair care aisle (like I frequently do – seriously!  I look like the rain man sometimes!) looking for the perfect hair care treatment to keep your strands moisturized.  Well, there is no such thing as the ‘perfect’ hair care treatment, but I do recommend getting a conditioner that contains cetyl alcohol.

In a nutshell, cetyl alcohol is derived from a coconut and which means that it is one of the best moisturizers on the planet!  After you have conditioned your hair with this outstanding stuff, you do not want to rinse your hair in hot or warm water, rather you want to close off the hair cuticle and rinse it off with cold or cool water – this may be an old trick, but it works – believe you me!   Now that you have taken care of the hair part, you want to ensure that any new hair growing out of your scalp is healthy, this means treating your scalp.

If you are like most people in the wintertime and have a dry and itchy scalp, go ahead and put a little olive oil on it.  This will replace some of your sebum oil that your scalp naturally produces, this production tends to slow down in the winter, hence the reason for your dry and itchy scalp.
