Blake Lively has been spotted sporting her new and unique hair color – red! We never would’ve expected her to try out this rebelling look and ditch her once beautiful blond locks. She definitely rocks this new hair color even though it’s something we’re going to have to get used to. She first showed off this new look at the Time 100 Gala in Manhattan. She admitted that she did this new look for a film she’ll be starring in – Hick. “I thought [my character] needed red hair. It helps when you’re playing a role, when I don’t feel like myself. And I don’t really feel like myself with red hair,” Lively told PEOPLE.
She’s also going to go brunette for another film she’ll be starring in – Lantern. Many people loved her new look and she’s been getting plenty of attention on it too. Honestly, it does make her look a little older but she still pulled it off amazingly!
Not everybody can pull of red hair though. But Hollywood loves it, and many celebrities such as Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, Bette Midler, Lindsay Lohan, and Diane Keaton have been redheads. There are many different shades of red, such as strawberry blonde, auburn, crimson, and copper.
Anybody can die their hair red, but making it look natural is what it comes down to. You may have to adjust your makeup (especially lipstick) and tint your eyebrows for a more natural look. Red hair also tends to fade a lot quicker than other colors, so don’t wait until it’s completely faded to re-color it. Maintain it as much as you can at home, and be sure to use color-treated shampoo, conditioner, and overall hair products (this will help a lot).
Red hair is beautiful, but if not done and maintained correctly, it can be one of the biggest hair mistakes you’ve ever made. So put a lot of thought into it before dieing it, and make sure this is really what you want and know that you’ll have to adjust a little to pull it off.
